In the tradition of the Parisian cafe philosophique, a bunch of Byronites meet bi-monthly to consider challenging and thought-provoking ideas while sharing food and drink. The ideas are sometimes presented by a visiting speaker, sometimes by someone from the group of members.

We’re brought together by a love of thoughtful inquiry and an enjoyment of the sense of community created by the sharing and critiquing different approaches and ideas.
Over the years topics range from public concerns such as What is Democratic Leadership? Are Legal Ethics Really Ethical? Is Populism a threat to Democracy? to the more philosophical – What is Real? How Do We Know? How Do We Speak About What We Know?
We meet at Byron Bay Services Club and many of our members come for a meal before the talks which usually start at 7pm.
